What does therapy with children and adolescents look like?

It depends on a number of factors, including your child’s age, developmental level, and presenting problems. In general, treatment with younger children is activity-based — often including coloring, worksheets, games, brief videos and other hands-on activities to teach concepts and build skills. Older children and adolescents participate in talk therapy which may also include use of worksheets and technology to promote application of learned skills outside of therapy sessions.

Regardless of your child’s age, parent participation is critical to successful treatment. While we provide expertise in therapeutic interventions, you are the expert on your child. We engage in regular check-ins with parents throughout treatment. This allows us to evaluate your child’s progress and discover additional growth opportunities.
